Industrial/PhD Course: Power Electronics for Renewable Energy Systems (PERES) - Spring

Time
Tuesday 8. May 2012 at 8:30 - Thursday 10. May 2012 at 16:30

The purpose of this course is to learn about the grid converters topology and control in the areas of Photovoltaics and Wind Power Systems which account for the vast majority of renewable energy grid integration worldwide. The content of this course is now available in the form of the book Grid Converters for Photovoltaic and Wind Power Systems, ISBN-10: 0-470-05751-3, Wiley.

After the course the students should:
• Have knowledge about topologies for PV and WT grid inverters;
• Have knowledge of current control and harmonic compensation using resonant controllers;
• Have knowledge of the grid filter design, stability impact, robust monitoring and the synchronization methods able to accurately track the positive sequence;
• Be familiar with the control structures in synchronous and stationary coordinate frames which are able to control both positive and negative current sequence;
• Have knowledge about power injection strategies during faults

Organizer: Professor Remus Teodorescu, ret@et.aau.dk, Aalborg University
