Seminar on future energy solutions at Aalborg University · 8. December 2010
Knowledge sharing between companies, students and the university is the primary goal, when the Department of Energy Technology holds the Energy Seminar on Friday December 17th.
The Energy Seminar is a continual event under the so called Energy Sponsor Programme, and this years’ seminar brings trends, priorities and challenges into focus within the energy sector.
- The Energy Seminar focuses on the trends of today within the energy research and is a continual possibility for both sponsors and students to keep their fingers on the pulse. At the same time it is a display window for the sponsors and the students, says professor Lasse Rosendahl, chairman of the Energy Sponsor Programme.
The sponsor members of the programme, employees at Aalborg University, students and others with an interest are participating in the Energy Seminar. The day before the seminar the sponsors get the possibility to meet the students and hear about their scientific work at the students’ conference CES 2010. The students will have access to a high concentrated job fair where the sponsors can promote their companies under an informal reception. The companies represent a broad range of the energy industry the students aim at in their career.
One of the participating companies from the Energy Sponsor Programme is Siemens Wind Power.
- The Energy Seminar is an exciting and efficient way to gain knowledge about the research activities within energy at Aalborg University. At the same time it is possible to give feedback which is important in order to ensure that the activities at the University are in step with the industry. In our case the windmill industry, says Kenneth Pedersen, development engineer at Siemens Wind Power in Aalborg.
- It is very important to educate relevant candidates and PhDs on a continuous basis. The research contributes to this as the research areas are determining for the students’ specific competences. Not least therefore is the energy seminar interesting for us, as it is a forum, where AAUs research projects etc. are conveyed, says Kenneth Pedersen.
Besides free participation in the Energy Seminar the sponsors achieve a range of advantages through the Energy Sponsor Programme. Each member of the programme is for example assigned a so called company ambassador – a scientific person at the Department of Energy Technology functioning as the company’s approach to research and information.
The Energy Seminar presents a range of internal and external speakers, for example Jeannette Møller Jørgensen from Energinet.dk who gives a presentation on the Danish energy system by tomorrow. After the keynote speakers the programme is divided into two parallels focusing on the seven research programmes at the Department of Energy Technology. The research director at Aalborg University, professor Lene Lange, rounds off the day with a presentation on the future research directions and priorities at Aalborg University. The Energy Seminar takes place on Friday December 17th 2010 from 09.00 am – 15.00 pm at Fibigerstræde 16 in Aalborg. Further information as well as the programme may be found at www.et.aau.dk under “The Energy Sponsor Programme”.
