World-renowned Star Gives Advice to AAU Students · 6. May 2011
There probably won’t be much of the "yeah, yeah, what does he know?" attitude when a world-renowned North Jutland native shows up and offers some advice to the team behind Aalborg University’s Eco Racer. When the team presents their race car, it’s not just anybody opening his mouth. On the contrary, it’s none other than eight-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen who is sharing his experience and that experience should help the students win the unofficial world championship in driving the farthest distance on a liter.
The unofficial world championship is known as the Shell Eco-marathon, this year held for the 27th time in Lausitz, Germany in late May. The students from Aalborg University are competing against more than 200 teams from educational institutions from all around the world.
"The students have worked intensely on the car over the past year and feel well prepared for the race. We’re participating this year for the third time and have great expectations. We are in the "Prototype" category with a fuel cell powered racer that uses hydrogen as fuel. There have been some changes made to the car for this year’s race. The steering has been replaced, the traction system has been improved and fuel cell system has been optimized. With these new features, we’re convinced that we’ll place well this year,” says Søren Juhl Andreasen, supervisor for the Eco Racer team.
Come and see the car and meet Tom Kristensen when AAU’s Eco Racer team gives a presentation for the press at the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University (Pontoppidanstræde 101, 9220 Aalborg East) May 11, from 11:00 to 13:00. AAU’s Rector, Finn Kjærsdam, and Shell's Director of Communications, Regitze Reeh, will also be there.
