Best Presenter Award to Haoran Wang

Congratulations to PhD fellow Haoran Wang from Center of Reliable Power Electronics (CORPE), who received Best Presenter Award at 16th International Symposium "Topical Problems in the Field of Electrical and Power Engineering", in Parnu, Estonia, January 16-21, 2017.

Haoran Wang had been given the opportunity to present a paper for oral presentation, entitled “Reliability-oriented Cost Benchmarking of Active Capacitive DC-links in Single-phase Power Converters". During his stay, he had received an award for the best oral presentation taking place during the Dialogue Technical Sessions.

The presentation presents a reliability-oriented design procedure, which is applied to size the chip area of active switching devices and the passive components to fulfill a specific lifetime target. Component cost models are applied to obtain the overall cost of each DC-link design methods. It reveals that different conclusions can be drawn with different lifetime targets in terms of cost-effectiveness.

Haoran would like to thank his supervisor Huai Wang, and co-supervisor Frede Blaabjerg, for all their kindness and enlightening discussions in order to come out with a significant result. Further, he would like to also thank his colleagues in CORPE for kindly supplying the knowledge and guidance in research.
