Research Academies
The Department of Energy Technology cooperates with the three research academies:
- EnergyLab
- Dawe - Danish Academy of Wind Energy
- HyFC - Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Academy
EnergyLab
This research school EnergyLab is based on cooperation between the Department of Energy Technology at Aalborg University and the Technical University of Denmark.
The school concerns electrical energy systems and offers a PhD programme in sustainable energy and decentral energy production, transmission, distribution, consumption, conversion and control, regulation and supervision of electrical energy which is decisive in a modern society. EnergyLab is the visible result of an idea to utilise Denmark’s unique position within energy production, -storage, -use, -conversion and –optimisation.

DAWE – Danish Academy of Wind Energy
DAWE was established in 2002 by the Danish Research Agency as a collaboration between theTechnical University of Denmark, Aalborg University, Risø National Laboratory and the Danish Hydraulic Institute.
In cooperation with the University of Copenhagen, these four institutions have recently formed the Danish Research Consortium for Wind Energy with the purpose of strengthening wind energy related research and development and education of researchers through intensified collaboration and coordination.
HyFC - Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Academy
The overall goal of the Danish Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Academy (HyFC) is to be an internationally recognised doctoral school. The research school favours the possibility to work together with industrial partners involved in hydrogen and fuel cell technology in order to attract the best students, guest students, guest researchers and guest professors.
The purpose of the HyFC PhD-programme is to prepare students for advanced engineering research and development through application-driven and research-based activities. Highly theoretical as well as advanced experimental disciplines form the scientific backbone of the HyFC programme.
