Introduction on Automotive and Industrial Drives

Rapid developments in Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and Microcomputers enable advanced electrical drive systems to be designed and produced. This facilitates the development of compact energy efficient motion control systems for automotive and industrial drive systems. In return this promotes e.g. energy savings and reduced CO2 emissions.

The research programme 'Automotive & Industrial Drives' has it's background in the fundamental research of the Department in power electronics, electrical machines and applied control theory. These combined lead to research into drive systems, with emphasis on two application segments: automotive and industrial drives.

The research group supports the education of B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. engineers in electrical engineering besides students up to Ph.D. level in electro-mechanical system design (EMSD).

International students, interested in this research area, are invited to apply for the international master programmes in Power Electronics and Drives (PED) and Mechatronic Control Engineering (MCE). The group also welcomes guest students with an interest working in the Automotive & Industrial Drives area.

Collaboration Partners

The research programme collaborates with national and international research groups, institutions in academia as well as industry to achieve the best possible foundation for strategic decisions on research initiatives and to provide students and scholars with a good foundation for conducting leading edge research.
