There will be a guest lecture on June 7
Analysis and Modeling of Power Converters Based Technologies for Grid Integration and Storage Systems
Assoc. Prof. Jorge García García, University of Oviedo, Spain
The presentation discusses the main research lines of the Laboratory for Electrical Energy Management Unified Research (LEMUR), established in 2012 at the electrical Engineering Department of the University of Oviedo, in Spain.
The group skills mainly include Electrical Networks Modeling and Analysis and Power Converters Based Technologies for Grid Integration and Storage Systems. The group staff is comprised of more than 20 people including 5 professors and several Postdoc researchers and MSc and BSc students.
After a brief introduction on the institution and the group history, The presentation will discuss the main research lines of the group, including those related with power electronics for hybrid storage systems, advanced magnetic devices for control of converters, and optimization design for power systems. Besides these research lines, also the main research projects and technology transfer contracts with companies will be discussed (e.g. Arcelor-Mittal, Thyssenkrupp, CAF Turnkey Engineering, Siemens-Gamesa, Cegasa Portable Energy, etc.).
The research collaboration with these companies institutions, together with collaborations with academic institutions worldwide, will also be linked up to academic activities of the members of the research group. These activities will focus mainly on the coordination and management of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree on Sustainable Transportation and Power Systems (STEPS) and the EECPS Master Degree.
THE guest lecture WILL TAKE PLACE in Pon 105 in room 3.115 and all are welcome.
