ABSTRACT

This project is focused on the dynamic interoperability of grid-forming converters with synchronous generators (SGs) as well as grid-following converters under different faults in a modern power transmission grid. First, the fault current contributions of grid-forming/-following converters will be analysed considering the impacts of converter controls. Then, the fault ride-through requirement for converter-based resources will be revisited based on the fault current analysis. Last, the transient stability of converter-based resources with different penetration levels of renewables will be studied.
