ABSTRACT

Nowadays, the world is facing with catastrophic accumulation of agricultural and municipal wastes due to the overgrowing of human’s population. On the other hand, various environmental problem such as greenhouse gases emission into the atmosphere made the scientists and environmentalists to search for cost-effective and efficient solutions. To meet this demand, many renewable energies have examined. Among them, biomass as a widespread and abundant source, showed a promising potential. Various biochemical and thermochemical technologies have designed to maximize the energy recovery of used biomasses. Thermochemical conversion roots which can be divided to pyrolysis and hydrothermal conversion have increasingly became popular in the last few decades as the competitive technologies providing valuable energy carriers from low cost energy resources. Hydrothermal liquefaction(HTL) as an advantageous thermochemical process has shown the ability to produce valuable energy carries from wet/dry wastes in sub, near, and supercritical condition. The main objectives of Komeil’s  phD studies is dealing with the problems against industrialization of this technology.
