  • August 2019 - Prof. Xiongfei Wang visited Distributed Energy Center, Georgia Tech, USA, on 8 August, and ABB Power Grid Research, Sweden on 20 August. He gave a talk on “Synchronization Stability of Grid-Connected Converters” at ABB Power Grid Research. 

  • August 2019 - Prof. Xiongfei Wang attended PES General Meeting 2019 during 5-8 August, where he organized a Panel Session on Modeling and Control of Power Electronic Based Power Systems, and made two panel presentations on “Aggregation of PV inverters for harmonic stability studies” and “Transient Stability of Inverter-Based Resources”.

  • June 2019 - Prof. Xiongfei Wang received the 2019 IEEE PELS Sustainable Energy Systems Technical Achievement Award from IEEE Power Electronics Society. The award will be presented at IEEE ECCE 2019, Baltimore, USA. Further information may be found here: Xiongfei Wang receives IEEE PELS Award.

  • June 2019 - Prof. Xiongfei Wang delivered a tutorial on “Small-Signal Modeling and Stability Analysis of Grid-Converter Interactions” at IEEE PEDG 2019 on 3 June 2019.

  • June 2019 - Prof. Xiongfei Wang was invited to give a talk on “Synchronization Stability of Grid-Connected Converters” at Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China, on 1 June 2019.  

  • May 2019 - Postdoc Zheming Jin and Prof. Xiongfei Wang visited China’s National Innovation Center of High-Speed Train and Sifang Research Institute of CRRC, Qingdao, China, on 30 May 2019, and they were invited to give two lectures on “Robust Control Techniques of Grid-Connected Power Converters” and “Medium-Voltage Wide Bandgap SiC Power Electronics Systems”. 

  • PhD student Yicheng Liao, Postdoc Zheming Jin, and Prof. Xiongfei Wang visited DNV GL Energy during 20-24 May 2019. They tested the grid-forming control techniques on the power hardware-in-the-loop test system in the Flexible Power Lab there.

  • May 2019 - A workshop between the eGrid Research Program and ABB Power Grids was successfully held on 9 May 2019, at ABB Power Grids, Vasteras, Sweden. Prof. Xiongfei Wang, PhD students: Heng Wu, Mads Taul, Shih-Feng Chou, and Hong Gong visited ABB Power Grids and their Lighthouse Lab. The research works of eGrid on the grid-forming converters and the impedance-based stability analysis have been presented and discussed with the R&D engineers at ABB Power Grids.

  • May 2019 - A workshop between Energinet (Danish TSO) and the eGrid Research Program was successfully held at Energinet on 1 May, 2019. The workshop was focused on the challenges with the future electricity grids with high penetration of renewable resources and the grid-forming power electronic technologies. Prof. Xiongfei Wang, Assist. Prof. Dongsheng Yang, PhD students Mads Taul, Joachim Steinkohl, and Heng Wu attended the workshop.

  • April 2019 - The research on the “Design-Oriented Transient Stability Analysis of Grid-Connected Converters with Power Synchronization Control” has been published in the latest issue of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, co-authored by PhD student Heng Wu and Prof. Xiongfei Wang.

  • April 2019 - On April 2-4, the Industrial/PhD Course: Stability and Control of Grid-Forming Power Electronics Systems was successfully held at the Department of Energy Technology, Aalborg University, lectured by Prof. Pedro Rodriguez from Loyola Tech, Spain, Prof. Xiongfei Wang, Assist. Prof. Dongsheng Yang, and Dr. Donghua Pan. This 3-day course attracted over 50 participants from industry and academia. (see outline of the PhD course).
